As many know, Hamilton and Cleveland are very much alike in the sense that they share the following similarities:
1) They are both home to extensive industry.
2) Many citizens share property lines with the facilities.
3) Black fallout, odour, and pollution are routinely experienced.
4) They are home to a Mittal Steel plant.

This past week, myself and the Toronto GNC Coordinator, Heather, ventured down to Cleveland to visit our friends at the Ohio Citizen Action group. This group, which created the GNC concept, has been working on Good Neighbour Campaigns for the past 11 years and are currently focusing their efforts on the Mittal Steel facility located within their neighbourhood.
After speaking with the campaign organizers, and sharing stories, it is needless to say that our experiences in Hamilton are identical with those within Cleveland. As such, our organizations have decided to work together to help Mittal Steel become the good neighbour they need to be.
